Recycle your Christmas tree with Keep the Midlands Beautiful!

December 26, 2007 - January 11, 2008

Please follow these guidelines:

  • Remove all lights, tinsel and ornaments from the tree.
  • Remove tree from stand.
  • Drop off trees only - no wreaths, garland, or other greenery
  • Remove tree from bag and remove any string, wire, or ties on the tree.

Free Christmas Tree Mulch!
On Saturday, January 12, beginning at 9:00 AM until we are out of mulch, pick up free mulch at the Irmo, Par Tee, and Clemson Institute locations. 

Grinding of the Greens Drop-off Sites

  • Clemson Institute for Economic and Community Development - 900 Clemson Road, Columbia SC 29229
  • Seven Oaks Park – 200 Leisure Lane, Irmo, SC  29212
  • Par Tee Golf Driving Range - 3209 Old Charleston Highway (Hwy. 321 South), near the Cayce water tower.  (Open daily 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.)
  • City of Columbia's Compost Facility - Humane Lane, off Shop Road. (Open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.)
  • Crooked Creek Park - 1098 Old Lexington Highway, next to Chapin Middle School. (Open daily 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.)
  • Fort Jackson Recycling Center - Building #6568 on Lee Road.  Enter the Fort through Gate 2 on Forest Drive.  Please have car registration and drivers license ready for admission.
  • Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church - 5503 Sunset Blvd, Lexington

The City of Columbia, Crooked Creek Park, Fort Jackson, and Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church locations will use their own equipment and staff to grind the trees at those collection sites into mulch for use on their property and/or use the trees for erosion control.
