Miller, Kathy (Oakview Elementary School)
Mentor for: Schoolyard habitats, recycling

As Science Lab Teacher, Kathy teaches 3rd - 5th grade students weekly in Oakview's science lab and K-2nd grade students one lesson each quarter. She is responsible for Oakview's comprehensive recycling programs and schoolyard habitats. Kathy has a BS from Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, PA and an MA from the University of Pittsburgh. Kathy's honors and awards are too numerous to list in this small space, but include the Christa McAuliffe Fellowship Award, Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching and Seaworld/Busch Gardens/Fujifilm Environmental Excellence Award, which included a $10,000 prize. After growing up in Greenville, Pennsylvania, Kathy has spent the past 20 years in Greenville, South Carolina.
