Nanney, Marian (DHEC's Air Quality Innovations Section)
Mentor for: B2, plants in every classroom, recycling, composting, landscaping with native plants and indoor air quality

Marian Nanney works in DHEC's Air Quality Innovations Section. Her job duties include educational materials development and review, web content review and promoting air quality improvement through the "Take a Break from the Exhaust" commuter choice program and on the "Breathe Better" (B2) anti-idling program. Projects on which she can provide assistance to schools include B2, plants in every classroom, recycling, composting, landscaping with native plants and indoor air quality.

Marian found her way to DHEC after receiving her M.A. in French from the University of South Carolina, where she also taught French. Marian is an avid runner who, as part of the 2007 Midlands Makeover, implemented a recycling initiative for old running shoes that was well-received by the Columbia running community. Marian is also an (enthusiastic) amateur gardener and bird watcher and a volunteer on the Sistercare Speakers Bureau.
