Midlands smokers are encouraged to contact and come by Keep the Midlands Beautiful at 930 Richland Street in Columbia to receive a free portable ashtray for times when they aren’t close to a receptacle. Also available for a donation of $10.00 are car ashtrays that fit into vehicle cup holders.

Put Your Famously Hot Butts Here! Keep the Midlands Beautiful has teamed up with area business guilds and other organizations to eliminate cigarette litter in our capital city. The goal of the "Put Your Famously Hot Butts Here" campaign is to have uniform receptacles in all of Columbia's entertainment districts. The receptacles are designed to hang on the side of buildings. If you do not own your property, you must seek permission from the property owner. Businesses are responsible for installation and maintenance of receptacles. Specifications: aluminum, 12” long, 3-1/2 inch diameter (sit approximately 1/2” from the wall when mounted.) Receptacles cost $80 each.
