Feb. 21, 2009 - Storm Drain Marking in Lexington County

On Saturday, Februray 21, a group of us from the Keep the Midlands Beautiful Student Advisory Board visited a few new Lexington subdivisions. Our mission was to make people aware of the damages people do to the Saluda River by dumping oils and other items down storm drains. We split up into small groups of 5 or 6 and walked around the subdivisions and put doorhangers on all the houses informing people of this problem. We also glued little plastic discs to all the storm drains that said "Dump No Waste. Drains to Saluda River." The project was definitely a success. We covered around 4 subdivisions in just a few hours. We were able to have fun and make good progress toward a greener Earth at the same time!
